Also known as heliotrope, or “Sun” “to turn” (because the flowers of the same name ‘turn’ towards the sun),  a Christian legend says that the red of this stone came from the blood that was spilled from Jesus’ side when a Roman soldier pierced him while he was on the cross. 

Bloodstone is a stimulating and empowering stone, a deep green jasper mixed with red caused by hematite. Historically worn by warriors and athletes to promote physical prowess, it has also been used to help staunch bleeding.

Bloodstone can help with stimulating physical vitality and the zest for life; may encourage courage and strength, especially in times of transformation; can assist in regeneration; and may encourage motivation when one is feeling low or lazy.
